New horizons
Broadband has opened up a whole new world to business and advertising opportunities.
As more people come online to chat and search, emerging countries such as South Korea, Pakistan, Turkey and Vietnam stand to become more important players in the global markets. Their need for specialist knowledge, rather than manufacture, opens them up to SMEs in the UK.
The social networks are booming and there is increasing movement from a domestic dialogue to a commercial one. All ages are online and groups that were unpromising markets for conventional marketing – like silver surfers - are an increasingly productive market for B2C promotion at any time of the day, not just early afternoon.
The internet is developing into areas where you can experience virtually anything you want from a vast wealth of resources. For example, there are virtual self-help classes on all manner of subjects - teaching new dogs old tricks.
Human resources vetting, virtual PA’s, online accounting for SMEs are all well established outsourced offerings from virtual companies attracted by companies becoming increasingly time poor.
Conventional marketing doesn’t work too well in these virtual environments because these are more personal and intimate connections. Traditional marketing targets will change because of the way broadband is being utilised - whether it's via video and audio downloads, searching for information or talking for free using voice over internet.
Make it happen.
